Director Pat Murphy, one of the most accomplished directors of her generation, blazed a trail for women in cinema in the 1980s with films such as Maeve (1981), Anne Devlin (1984), Nora (2000) and Tana Bana (doc, 2015). In realising her vision, she has worked with a wide range of creatives such as documentary director John T. Davis; cinematographers Thaddeus O’Sullivan and Jean-François Robin; Costume designer Consolata Boyle. In this workshop she explores the importance of collaboration in her work and how to go about “casting” the right heads for a film’s key creative departments.
